The Philippines General Council of the Assemblies of God, through the Executive Presbytery, has issued a call to Fast and Pray, starting on January 30 to March 10, 2011.
We urge our churches and ministers to seek God earnestly during this season of prayer.
Our common time of prayer will be between 8 to 9 PM.
These are abnormal days, as we observe the events in the world, escalating in destructive natural disasters and more civil unrest in nations.
And most of all, these are threatening days in the life of the Churches, including the 4,000 plus local churches of the Assembly of God in the Philippines.
We are presently facing a raging spiritual storm, and hearing distant thunders and murmuring of waves testing the balance and integrity of our ship, the PGCAG. Our community as Assemblies of God is being put to test in terms of unity and endurance. But we can call on God.
We can pray in the Spirit, so that even if we do not know what to pray for as we ought, the Spirit will help our weakness and pray according to the will of God.
We need therefore to consult with God and find hope and strength in Him.
As we face this new year, and as we start a new Decade of missions and Church Planting, let us draw strength from God, and learn to face the inevitable roaring of the toothless enemy, the devil.
As the Scripture says, Submit yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, resist the devil and he will flee from you – let then ask, seek and knock.
Here’s the picture we need to see as we fast and pray:
“Sea storms are up, God , Sea storms wild and roaring, Sea storms with thunderous breakers. Stronger than wild sea storms, Mightier than sea-storm breakers, Mighty God rules from High Heaven.” PSA 93:3 (MSG)
Our God is stronger, mightier, and continue to rule on high!
God bless us all.
